College Conservation Area Extension Consultation
Conservation areas were established in the 1960s as a means of preserving areas of historic and architectural interest. The idea was that by identifying areas worthy of preservation, describing them and by imposing a set of enhanced conditions to protect them, the character and integrity of such areas could be maintained for future generations.
Over the last half a century over 10 000 conservation areas have been designated across England, taking in urban, rural, coastal and suburban locations and representing the full range of architectural styles and street forms.
Here in Eastbourne we have 12.
We are invited to undertake regular reviews of all of our conservation areas and have just completed an appraisal of the College Conservation Area, which we are now looking to consult with the public on.
The consultation period runs from Monday 28th October 2019 through to Friday 6th December 2019.
